Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Adds to England's Injury Worries.

'Major setback' for the touring side after Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.

The English seamer increased the injury concerns plaguing England when he left the playing area on the second morning of the Boxing Day Test in the Ashes series.

The pace bowler pulled up with his hamstring post-delivery of the fourth over on Saturday.

The England team reported Atkinson felt some "soreness" and would spend time off the field for further assessment "over the next few hours".

The series decider of the tour in Sydney begins on Sunday, 4 January.

The visitors have been without strike bowlers Mark Wood due to knee trouble and another paceman because of a side injury during this series.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party as cover for Wood.

His form was underwhelming in the opening two Tests, managing only a handful of scalps.

He was left out for the Adelaide match, before being recalled for the Melbourne Test in the playing XI.

Surrey's Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, claiming a couple of wickets with the ball, and scoring 28 runs with the bat as one of just three England players to get into double digits.

Following a brief spell late on the first day, he came back on Saturday morning and removed Scott Boland taken by the wicketkeeper.

Yet, at the end of his spell, he delivered a variation to Travis Head and immediately felt for his hamstring.

Atkinson was brought back for the Melbourne match having missed of the third.
