Former BBC Consultants Face MPs' Questioning In the Wake of Assertions of Bias in Leaked Memo

She initiates by providing background to the disclosed memorandum written by Michael Prescott and published in the Telegraph.

"I do not desire the British Broadcasting Corporation slanting this way or that way, I simply desire it balanced, unbiased and fair," he says.

When asked if he thinks the British Broadcasting Corporation is structurally prejudiced, Prescott replies: "No, I do not. It is important to note, numerous aspects the BBC creates is world class - both documentary and non-factual programming."

But he adds: "There remains significant effort that must be undertaken at the BBC."

The second former external British Broadcasting Corporation consultant questioned by the panel, Caroline Daniel, remarks she regards the British Broadcasting Corporation extremely earnestly and that it operates a "ongoing system and vigorous discourse" regarding fluid and multifaceted issues.

"Was the BBC ready to engage in a proper conversation and debate and take action?" she asks herself. "In my view, indeed, they were."
