Former Physician Charged with Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor now faces charges for performing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
These allegations follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
