The UK is set to progress with utilizing the entire amount of immobilized Russian assets to aid Ukraine's military campaign, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a collective announcement, the heads of state of the UK, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this unified step would heighten pressure on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to engage in negotiations.

They further noted that the initiative would be carried out in tight collaboration with the US.

UK restrictions have blocked over £25bn of Russian resources since Moscow launched its comprehensive attack against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. But, until now, money sent to Ukraine using Russian holdings had only been taken from earnings and returns earned on them.

Sir Keir assured President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and Germany were aligned in their desire to advance efforts toward using the complete amount of the immobilized Russian sovereign assets to end the war.

He noted that additional sanctions over the next period would apply more pressure on Moscow.

This declaration comes after European leaders gathered in Copenhagen previously to discuss employing immobilized Russia's assets for a €140bn loan to Ukraine.

Last month, American leader Donald Trump encouraged Group of Seven partners to confiscate or utilize frozen Russian funds, based on news outlets.

The worth of seized Russian holdings in the Europe is assessed to be almost €211bn.

The Russian government carried out large-scale missile and drone strikes throughout the Ukrainian territory on Friday, resulting in power cuts in many areas of the capital city, the city, and several other zones.

Two people were lost their lives and at least 20 people were wounded in the attack, Ukrainian officials reported.

In a update on an online platform following the incident, Zelensky wrote that the strategic strike focused on public and utility structures.

"What's needed is not just talk but firm measures - from the United States, Europe, and the G7 - in providing air defence systems and applying sanctions," he emphasized.

"Every sanction decision undermines Moscow's military apparatus," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

Also on Friday, Zelensky informed reporters he would press Sir Keir to participate in the PURL scheme, under which partner nations acquire military equipment from the America to donate to Ukraine.

While applauding the UK's firm backing for Kyiv, he said it should demonstrate clearly that it would engage in the program, as well as enforce further restrictions on Moscow.
